"NO ONE READS POETRY" [sic]

topic posted Mon, July 3, 2006 - 3:59 PM by  Ben

My new poetry book, THE RED BOOK (ISBN 1842941801) came out a few weeks ago, and obviously I'm trying to spread the word as much as humanly possible...

ALSO - I've just found out that it is now number one on Amazon UK's 'Hot Books' poetry chart!! How happy am I !

...sorry to blow my own trumpet (so to speak!) in this way - but in this game no one's gonna do it for me!!

I hope you'll all check it out...

There really are very few of us that do actually *read* poetry, which is one of the reasons I started this tribe. A friend of mine works at Powell's Books on Burnside (in Portland) and I remember him once saying that a poetry book could sell maybe 5 copies a month and be the best seller of the section.

The last poetry book I spent money one was Jenny Boully's prose poetry book called [one love affair]*
